As per a research conducted by a game magazine publisher in Tokyo, Nintendo’s Wii Fit has emerged as the best-selling game software in the country in the year 2007. In a conference in the 2006, Shigeru Miyamoto, manufacturer of the game, originally called Wii Fit as Wii Health Pack. He illustrated the game then as an attempt to help family come together for exercising. Wii Fit game concept was initially included in Shigeru Miyamoto’s design model for Wii Series. The most interesting fact about the Wii Fit game is that it has been inspired by the day-to-day activities in Miyamoto’s life, particularly his family’s exercising routine. He found the casual discussions about the health benefits and exercising with his family members interesting and it gave him an idea to design a game with innovative concept and hence Wii Fit came into existence.

Wii Fit has a uniquely designed Balance Board, which can be used to check the user’s weight and based on the weight of the user, Body Mass Index can also be calculated. Various activities are included in the game, like – Push-ups, different yoga poses etc. Wii Fit also has an imbedded channel on the Wii Menu that facilitates the comparisons of the fitness level of the players. The players can also track their ‘Fitness age’, in the manner similar to tracking the ‘Brain age’ in Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day.
